Strengthening Medicare |
Medicare is a vital program for America's elderly and disabled citizens. House
Republicans are not only working hard to secure the program's future but also
to strengthen the program to better meet the changing needs of today.
Chief among this effort by the GOP are the savings on prescription drugs. Available
beginning in 2004, you can save 10-25% on prescription drug purchases with a Medicare
approved Prescription Drug Card. Republicans are also working to make sure that those
in the greatest need receive the largest benefit under the new program. People with
Medicare under certain income limits won't have to pay premiums or deductibles for
prescription drugs.
The new plan includes a wider range of choices for people with Medicare. The Medicare
Advantage plan choices will be expanded to include regional PPOs to provide for greater
choices in coverage, no matter where they live. Americans can also begin to set aside
tax-free Health Savings Accounts to specifically pay for health related expenses.
People with Medicare even have the choice whether or not to enroll in the new program.
Again, the new program creates a stronger, more robust Medicare that will continue to
aid our senior and disabled citizens.
